MARYLEBONE Restaurants & Shops This area has benefited from the allowing & encouragement of cafe's and restaurants to open out onto the street, giving a wonderfully vibrant feel to what could have been described as an over stuffy area once upon a time. Today, the cafe's are in abundance, and on any sunny day you will find booking a table essential in the top restaurants at lunch time Christophers Place has been pedestrianised, and James Street with its single taxi road, are very much the centre of this cafe area. The choice of food is typically cosmopolitan with Italian, Greek, Thai, French, Turkish, restaurants - all playing a vital culinary role. The main street of the area to the South is Oxford Street, and has all the big names in the Marylebone area - John Lewis, Debenhams & Selfridges. Just to the South is Bond Street, Regent Street and South Molton Street. Within Marylebone, you tend to find the smaller boutique style shops, ideal for finding something personal and special. More recently, specialist food shops have been opening up in this area, and there is often a busy farmers market on a Sunday morning (Sorry, clinic is closed on Sunday).
