SPORTS INJURIES

If you receive any injury whilst playing sport, you not only are in discomfort, but you are at risk of further injury until the body mends itself.

Sometimes the injury is very straightforward because the cause is immediate and obvious. However, in many cases, this seemingly straightforward injury is a result of inadequate muscles in other parts of the body that have become needlessly tired.

A visit to the physiotherapist can firstly assess the exact damage done, with the best course of rehabilitation, but in many other cases. It highlights other areas of the body that may have caused such injury in the first place.

The job of a good physiotherapist is not only to assess an injury, but diagnose the real reason for the exact injury - and therefore differentiate the difference between a short term injury and a likely recurring injury. A runner may quickly blame worn out shoes for a physical condition, but good assessment can look at why the shoes caused the condition in the first place. If you are visiting the clinic with a condition such as this, please do bring along your shoes to fully explain the injury and for the physiotherapist to see the wear on different parts of the soles to aid with diagnosis.
